Mercury outboard boat motor???? help!!?

ok, me an my husband was out for a boat ride one day and we hit something that was in the water and the whole lower unit came off, (well that was the word i heard) and i am trying to surprise him and buy him one so where can i get one?? how much will it be?? and what information do i need to make sure that is the correct part for the motor? It is an old motor so how much am i looking at?? does anyone know of any good boat sites i can go to??? THanks…..plz help.

After hitting something that hard, it could have messed the rest of the motor up as well. With something like that, you need someone to look at it. Look in the yellow pages for a Mercury dealer in your area & bring the busted outboard into them to look at. They will be able to tell you if it’s worth salvaging what’s left or give you a price on a new or good used one. Compare a couple of dealers to make sure you’re not getting ripped off.

By the way, it’s really nice of you to be doing this for your husband.

Boat Parts – Learn Some Boating Lingo

I'm trying to find out what the boat would be best oil for use in pulling a suburban February 1?

I'm going to use the truck to pull a boat and It has 92,000 miles on it. It does not burn or leak oil. I just want the best, but do not know what that is. I thought about using Royal Purple, the part store said not to.

Your Suburban calls for 5W-30. Frankly, forget any brand of partial synthetic motor oil. The reason is: There is not a company that actually tells you the exact percentage of the synthetic oil it contains. Give your truck added protection by using a fully synthetic Mobil 1 Truck & SUV 5W-30. It is a fact that oil companies secretly are two very important anti-wear additives (zinc and phosphorus), because the life of catylitic converters. Under no circumstances use 10W-40 in any modern gasoline engine. Any higher viscosity than 5W-30 will not cool the engine as well. The oil pump should also work harder highly viscous oil robs you of power.

The introduction of an outboard motor?!?

So my friend and I have this boat, it was nothing but a steering wheel and some wires. If I were an outboard engine what else do I need to install 2? Ie, fuel, gas starter, please provide a brief description of what each part does register, and a "roundabout" Price Thank You

Yes, your friend and you need to go out and buy the book. One chapter (much less get all the points here) is not enough for what you will need. Example: Unless you know all things (and more) of what "jtexas" just said in his response regarding buying, configuring and installing all that stuff in the right place … It is not going to do you any good. What you need for your first outboard installation experience, step by step "how" proceedures. And that comes in "volumes" of information, with pictures and diagrams – and that's what you need. (Either that, some good experience to help.)

1968 1802 Evinrude mate 1.5 HP Outboard Motor Resurrection With Johnson 3 HP parts

what is the part number for the track rod arm off a 1992 Evinrude 90hp outboard motor?

173,700 is probably not true that for the old style Power Trim & Tilt abdominal or non power trim and tilt models. If your engine "Fastrack" power trim and tilt the right # 175125 is a dual-wire cable to a – # 175125 # 175322 link and a dual cable control adapter kit. that link was originally supplied with the engine. Be careful as the fast Trak system has a new belly with different geometry and will not function without the right parts. Check your Model # on your engine to be sure. If you have any questions contact me and I will be glad to help

Basic two-stroke and four cycles

outboard two-stroke are still around, but more than four times showing are outboard engines. Outboard Suzuki among the market leaders with a wide range of four outboard engines. Each type has its advantages and disadvantages, but Race four, and their lean exhaust emissions, sets the standard for the future. In any event, to be a troubleshooter engine you need to know how both types of engine work.

Remember the four basic needs: the case of two-stroke or four stroke outboard motors, which require a mixture of fuel / air being supplied to the cylinders, but you have to compress the mixture in some way must be turned on, and when you burn, the exhaust gases must be removed. This process is repeated as the engine runs, and the order in which these things happen should be accurate within a fraction of a second.

Outboard of four other times

It may be useful to think of internal combustion engine as a pump type.

Let's look at how the four times:

1-stroke piston down the cylinder, the development of fuel-air mixture in behind him.

Times 2 On his way back, the piston compresses the mixture to help make more efficient use explosion. (Incidentally, the piston rings to stop the mixture from escaping the slight difference in the sides.)

Movement 3-When is it compressed the mixture is ignited and the resulting explosion forces the piston down the cylinder. The piston has a rod connected to a shift in the crankshaft, and crankshaft forces at a time.

Stroke 4 So, finally, while the piston is pushed back to its original position by the crankshaft rotates, also remove the burned gases and preparing to start the cycle again. Therefore, the engine has become the movement of exchange (return) of the piston into something more useful for driving a propeller, a rotary motion.

outboard two-stroke engines.

The most important difference here is the absence of conventional intake and exhaust valves. In fact, valves are in a purely technical sense: moving pistons alternately reveal and conceal the ports (holes) in the cylinder wall, thus acting as valves. Ports are the means of gas inlet and outlet of the combustion chamber. The other big difference is that two-stroke outboard engines actually combine strokes admission and compression in a single operation, and power and movement of escape to another. As we have seen, this allows the intake complete all four required functions compression, ignition and exhaust, with only two strokes of the piston in the cylinder, and only one turn of the crankshaft instead of two.

Two-stroke engines no crankcase oil. In addition, the valves of a four-stroke engine, will be adjusted from time to time. A two-stroke gets along valveless at the expense of reduced efficiency and increased pollution.

A brief history of outboard motors

Outboard engine boats where developed as a standalone unit with engine systems and helix. It is mounted on the stern or rear of the boat and is the most common form of propulsion of small boats. It provides steering controls and is designed to turn and control the orientation of the helix.

Action as a rudder instead of the propeller provides the power, the transmission of the leg is in the water. When boats are about to enter shallow water or removed, the outboard should be tilted forward on the saddle so you can raise the propeller and shaft to take out of water. This will avoid getting too much algae or hitting the rocks that could damage the engine of the boat.

As for the history of outboard motors, a Norwegian-American inventor named Ole Evinrude in 1909 created the outboard first. Most outboard motors have outboard two-stroke engines because they are very simple and have reliability. They are also inexpensive and have high power to weight ratios. It is important that you look at the weight, especially the weight is near the stern. Boats prevent its passage if no attention is paid to the distribution of weight in the boat.

The two-cycle engine over a period of high emissions and cause some environmental problems that have an added cost for the development of technology. That's why some people tend to go to the engine cycle outboard four-stroke. It has met all expectations based on emissions standards and fuel. It costs less for these motors and to implement them. However, weight issues are more important in a four-stroke cycle so you have to pay attention to what's on the ship and where.

Some Companies that manufacture outboard motors are Mercury, Briggs and Stratton, Evinrude, Johnson, Honda, Yamaha, Mariner, Nissan, Suzki, MAC and others are smaller and lesser known companies that make outboard engines. You can buy an outboard motor online at sites varies and can buy parts for most brands if necessary. There are over a hundred different dealers found online that will guarantee an outboard motor that will work for your boat and that Add some quality to your navigation or fishing on TRIPS.

Many people who have a boat that has uses outboard motor, fishing in a lake. Like most ships have to be small to have an outboard motor, it is often used for navigation. They are nice to have instead of having to row, but should always be placed on pallets aboard the motor may overheat and stop running. Instead of getting stuck in the lake, it is best to have a backup plan even if your engine has consistently shown the durability and use.
