HELP 1961 McCulloch Sport Scott outboard?
Ok so i got a boat at an auction that had a 1961 McCulloch Sport Scott outboard that wouldn’t start so i took off the flywheel and noticed one of the points were broken, and with all the tampering the spark plug wire broke off the coil. i guess my question is can i get another point for this motor and can i replace or fix the coils?

Any body know about boat motors?
I have a 2000 Yamaha 25hp outboard. When I was going for a few minutes the oil temp light comes crashing? The idol and will go just as tully full run. The engine is barely used newer and yes I did check the oil. any idea what it coule be would be nice, thanks you.
Check the intake is perhaps the rubble. I had a similar problem with a Merc. When I took the lower unit, I found the rubber hose had slipped off the copper tube.that was problem.Failing that your fan may need replacing.

Using outboard boat during the cold weather.and winterizing?
I do not own an outboard so far I only Mercruiser / O. Had always winterized by a shop. It seems from what I've read and asked of people is pretty easy winterizing outboard motors. I have a 1976 Johnson 85 hp Javelin. If I understand correctly winterizing an outboard motor is simply draining the water by lowering it, draining the lower unit oil to ensure there is no water in it, and cover the cylinders or even just using the stabilizer in the gas and / or running out of gas. If this is correct, then it seems that I should be able to boat use in cold weather and only steps from the above applications. I would like feedback from people who use outboards during the winter. One last question. Is there any advantage in marine antifreeze running through it? I mean with antifreeze to flush the joints between the winter use. It is only used in fresh water
Your pretty much on track …….. The most important thing is to fog the engine as it will not be used for 30 days, then hit the engine down (not angled). A difficult problem is that winter snow can pile up and get into the exhaust through the hub, with thawing and refreezing can crack the case. What we did was duct tape over the end of the plug, and / or embed in a plastic bag or bags. If you suspect that mud or sand has accumulated in the water jacket in the head, it can not hurt to put a little antifreeze in the marine system. Otherwise no need to do that. . Do not leave fuel in the engine or tank …….. E-10 has a short shelf life …… even with stabilization. I use my boat through early January, then pick up again in March.

What is the highest horsepower outboard motor that can be used on a Cape Dory Typhoon sailboat 19 meters long, safe?
I want to use the boat to go whale to spot if we do not sail and the currents can be up to 4 or 5 knots. The hull speed is six knots.
There is no record on these older USCG sailboat, but I can tell you Carl Alberg that these boats are designed to be extremely seaworthy. I had one of the larger 24 "kittiwakes representing preformed with both a 9.5 and a 6 hp Evinrude. I would say that you check the engine mount and the size and go with what fits best, probably the 6 hp short shaft. Good luck! I already have a question, you can "chase" among whales sail?

173,700 is probably not true that for the old style Power Trim & Tilt abdominal or non power trim and tilt models. If your engine "Fastrack" power trim and tilt the right # 175125 is a dual-wire cable to a – # 175125 # 175322 link and a dual cable control adapter kit. that link was originally supplied with the engine. Be careful as the fast Trak system has a new belly with different geometry and will not function without the right parts. Check your Model # on your engine to be sure. 25 HP Mercury outboard motor will not tilt?
2001 Mercury 25 hp outboard tiller when it is rotated in the forward gears will mottor Do not tilt. On this engine there are two hook shaped arms, the trim pin so that the motor will not tilt in neutral or reverse to keep. They should run when the engine is in forward gear in case the engine hits bottom. Does anyone know how this upward adjustment of the rod that attracts poor? Thanks Where is the adjustment nut? How do I, I can push it reverse lock arm up with my finger and tilting the engine, they will not rise far enough on their own when mototr is put into gear.
First, make sure the reverse lock springs are the reverse lock hook control. There is no adjustment on the rear lock bar, make sure it is properly connected to the inverted hook and shift shaft.
